The Business Channel Blossoms With A Ton of Great Business Blogs
Far be it from me to hijack the entire community of people visiting b5media for business-related content! As much as I’m happy to have you onboard, I also want to make sure my fellow b5 bloggers are well-represented.
b5’s Business Channel launched a few weeks ago with an initial set of blogs. This one, and a host of others, launched a couple days ago. Let’s look at those first:
- Small Business Boomers: A blog dedicated to boomers in small business, with a focus on boomers who are starting or run their own businesses.
I think this is a great topic. A huge topic. The population is aging and we’re seeing more and more boomers start businesses.
Retiring boomers (or those that lose their jobs) are deciding not to exit quietly and head out into the pastures of back porches and hobbies. I think this is an under-served market in the blogging world, and I can’t wait to see this blog develop!
- Contract Worker: The blog’s description is, “Showing why ‘Freelancing’ Isn’t Just an F-Word Through Shared Experiences and Useful Info.”
Classic! Freelancers deserve plenty of credit. It ain’t easy being a freelancer. What I find interesting is when we start to blur lines between freelancers, solo entrepreneurs, businesses, etc. Where is that line, why is that line there, and what’s it all mean?
I’ll probably tackle some of those issues right here, and I suspect Contract Worker will as well. I love the creative aspects of freelancing, which a good friend of mine, Tony D. Clark tackles wonderfully in his new podcast, The Creative Venture.
- Brand Curve: My hope is that Ron tackles issues related to personal branding and branding for small businesses; two areas that I think a lot of people don’t get and miss out on.
Branding sounds like something only the big boys do, but we know that’s not the case. If you’re in the field of marketing/branding or want to start getting your feet wet, check out Brand Curve.
- Common Sense PR: Like branding/marketing, many small businesses and entrepreneurs aren’t sure how to handle PR. Some aren’t even sure what PR’s all about! That’s totally understandable, and social media, word-of-mouth and buzz marketing (and buzzwords!) add to the confusion and frustration. The key is that anyone can benefit from PR, and it’s not rocket science or voodoo.
- Property Crossroads: Is the real estate boom over? Is the sky falling? Are we all going to lose our shirts to the banks? I certainly hope not, but it’s frightening nonetheless. In Canada our booms are typically less explosive, which means the same holds true for our crashes. Maricel at Property Crossroads is going to help you through the murky waters of real estate. There’s money to be made (no matter whether it’s a boom or bust), and there’s always a right way and a wrong way of doing things.
Those are my new “blogging brethren in arms” — the blogs b5 just launched in Round 2 of its Business Channel operations.
Alongside these blogs, b5 brought in 3 great blogs that already existed:
- Just Make Money Online: Who doesn’t want to make money online, right?
- Leadership Turn: Strategies, tips, and tricks for leadership, speaking, and more.
- Successful Blog: Near and dear to my heart, Liz Strauss tackles a ton of interesting and important topics. She’s a great friend and motivator.
More content than you can shake a stick at! Lots of stuff for everyone, and we hope you enjoy it…

A great friend and motivator. Thank you. I would say the same about you, Ben. You’re right there in my book and an entrepreneur well worth listening to. :)
