Recession or Redefinition

By Hazel Palache

I constantly hear “we’re having a recession, things are so expensive, everything is worse than it ever was” yet people are still buying their Starbucks, smoking cigarettes and eating out.

If you know anything about me, you know that I encourage people to look at the bright positive side. To look at what you do have, not what you don’t have. Even if things are tougher for you at present, I encourage you to make a decision to look at this period of time as a time to redefine, rather than a time of recession. I recently heard someone say, “Although there’s a recession, I choose not to take part.” What a great way to look at things.

I know everything is relative however, if you have food on the table, a roof over your head, reasonable health and clothes on your back remember to give gratitude for what you do have instead of wishing for what you don’t have.

I don’t believe in depriving ourselves of everything we enjoy because we then probably wouldn’t enjoy life, however, even if you’re someone making lots of money, you might want to take a look at how you can save a little extra money during this time. Rich people get rich because they think about what they are spending.

Do you go to Starbucks or some place like it every day? Why? You don’t really ‘need’ the coffee/tea you buy! Starbucks needs you to do this, that’s how they make money. Let’s say on average you spend $4 five days a week, over a period of 6 months that approx. $500 saved. Wouldn’t it be great to spend that on a short vacation, new clothes or pay off a credit card? If you really think you would feel deprived, limit it to once a week and put the rest of the money in a jar and at the end of each month into a saving account. What we don’t know we don’t miss and people were still happy and thriving without coffee shops before they came along. It’s like an addiction and an easy one to overcome.

I haven’t smoked for nearly 30 years so I can’t even imagine how much it costs to buy a pack of cigarettes today. Imagine the money you could save if you cut back or cut out smoking. Become committed to your own good health, it’s not nearly as difficult as people think and you don’t have to gain weight just because you stop smoking.  To find a new powerful stop smoking hypnosis CD that will make it much easier for you go to www.theastonishingpowerofyou.com/products.htm.

I really encourage you to give some thought to where your money does go rather than just letting it flow through your fingers. If you keep a budget for one week, you’d probably be surprised at what you actually spend and what you could actually save if you want to. Make this a time to re-define things in your life, think a little differently and watch things change for you.
