Is it too good to be true?

by ShannonCherry on July 10th, 2008

These days you can never be too trusting, especially when it comes to making business deals. There are people out there who feed off of the innocence and naivety of those who don’t know better.scam artist in small business

I just read about Patricia Gates, who recently was duped.

“The Grant People” called her one-day, saying her small business could make lots of money by investing just a little. To any small business owner this would seem intriguing, especially when they had paperwork to back up the claims. Long story short, Gates gave nearly $22,000 to this fake grant company and has been left with nothing.

These scam artists alone have attempted to steal from 7 companies in the Nevada region and who knows where else. Take business offers with a grain of salt and really investigate potential investors or partners. With your money on the line, it’s no time to be careless.
