Asking questions leads to better results
by Josh Mackenburg
So this is my actual “entrance” to the blog world! I’m a first timer, so bare with me.
Here’s a little background information for you. My names Josh Mackenburg and I just turned 21. Even though my goal in life is to run my own business, I’m still in the college phase. I just started my third internship and, even though it’s only my third week here, I’ve learned a lot about public relations and what direction I want to take.
Working for Shannon Cherry and Be Heard Solutions has been great not only to learn a lot, but to have a lot of fun as well. I got pretty lucky because she gives advice to small business owners… and I want to be a small business owner. Quite the coincidence.
I figure the one thing I can stress is how important it is to learn whenever you can. I always like to say I have a “strong student mentality”, a quote my other boss used to pound into my head. They used to tell me how it’s great to ask questions and constantly improve “you”, because the more you know, the more you can teach.
This can really pay off for a lot of you. People like
It’s cool that a blog like this exists for everyone to go and reach out for help and education. Ask the questions so that one-day when somebody asks YOU, you’re the one with the answer. Establish yourself as the “go-to guy” in your field of work and that can mean big bucks.
Josh Mackenburg is a student at SUNY Albany in New York and a communications assistant at Cherry Communications. He can be reached at josh at cherrycommunications dot com.

I’ve taken this mentality of biting the bullet and asking the question, your mentor is likely to be able to give you an answer in a matter of minutes compared with potential hours of attempting to solve the problem and getting nowhere.
